Good news for those running the public bet, you can use one of the continuity features, AirDrop to send files between your iOS devices running iOS 7 and OSX 10.10 so there's no need for iOS 8.

I can't get my iPhone 5c to pair with my Macbook Pro for some reason. I keep getting the error about not being supported.

It's working for me when sending from the iMac to the iPhone, but not the other way around. I had to turn on my iMac's wifi for it to work (I normally leave it off since I'm connected over ethernet).

Airdrop requires wifi.
