Airline Power Adapter

It sounds like everyone agrees that this adapter does not charge the MBP while it is plugged in and turned ON..

But my question is, does it mantain power level..

Meaning, when you are plugged in (using the Airline Power Adapter) and turned ON.. does the computer lose any battery level?.. or does it just stay steady...?

If it can't at least maintain the battery level while turned on.. then it is nearly worthless...

It works just like a normal laptop does when the battery is charged. It just bypasses the battery and powers the laptop directly. If the battery isn't being used then it's level of charge will decrease very, very, very slowly - how long does it take a battery to discharge when your machine is turned off?

The battery charge would stay basically steady.

This power adapter does not charge the battery in anyway. It is provided because on most flights, you must take your battery out of your laptop.

So either way you look at it, when using this adapter, your battery isnt even in your laptop.

if our airlines (here in australia) offered powered seats in cattle class, I'd buy one.. I dont fly anything but cattle class these days, unless it's REAL FAR...

i take a spare battery at the moment. but this would be way better...

Mate, you live in WA. Going anywhere counts as REAL FAR.

They had a regular Aussie three-prong power point in my seat coming back from the states. It was tops, after I'd exhausted the range of videos on cassette I switched over to my own DVDs. I felt pretty cool lying there watching DVDs on my iBook until the guy next to me pulled out his 17" PowerBook - talk about feeling inadequate...
