I have a flight across the country tomorrow. I'm a bit hesitant to watch a movie on my new IPhone as it will be drained when I get to my destination. Sadly Southwest doesn't provide the ability to recharge in flight. I was wondering is using my IPhone in airplane mode reduces the drain on the battery as 3G will be off.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

You will get much better battery life in Airplane mode because everything is basically off...its just an iPod.

Airplane Mode will disable all the power draining antennas. To increase your battery life, reduce the brightness and use the lowest volume you need to hear. You should be fine.

I really don't know if IPhones can, but iPhone's, in the other hand can get 5+ hrs. in video with pauses, volume up's, and down's in Airplane Mode. :)
