Airplay from Apple Watch?

I am interested in a confirmation.

Can Airplay music be initiated directly from an Apple Watch? This would be on home WIFI while your connected phone is on the same wifi network? Currently my only audio options are from Apple Watch and airpods.

I have seen various articles on this feature online(iMore) but I have not been able to get this to work. I had discussions directly with Apple support on this topics, but after a long conversation they said that this type of streaming is not an option.

I would like to initiate a playlist from Music on the Apple and decide from the Watch which room it is played in. If this is not a current option, do you think it will be a option from Airplay 2?

Yes. I can do this. I ask watch to play something. Once music has started, I do a long press (force touch) and get the Airplay option on screen. I touch that and it brings up all available Airplay devices.
