Is there any way to play videos from your mac on the apple tv? I know you can do this with itunes content but im talking about playing videos from the web and apps like vlc.

Thanks

This is on everyones wish list I think. But so far no there is not a way to do this yet.

thanks. yeah I really hope that someone can find a way to do this

aTV Flash supports not only streaming from your computer with tons of file types, but also lets you browse the web. It supports all different kinds of web-based video players including flash. In theory, it looks like this will allow you to use the ATV to browse to your favorite free tv streaming site and play the videos in full screen. Nice!

:/ no support for atv2 and cost $50 bucks. there should be an easy way to just use airplay to push video

I agree, direct streaming from mac to ATV (hijacking video Airplay) shouldn't be too difficult, right?
Airfoil has been doing something similar for years, however audio only.
