So I'm nearly completed setting up my ATV2 to replace my cable that I shut off last week but had a question.

I currently have my ATV setup with Plex to stream movies and tv shows I download onto my macbook, however is there anyway (that works) to play internet videos onto my ATV? For instance, I found the site Tube + recently and although you can download episodes, there are many that you can watch online. I'd really like to be able to start the video on my computer and just airplay it to the ATV. I tried AirFlick recently, but I cant get it to work. Keeps coming up with an error "An error occurred loading this content". That is inputting the url of the video into AirFlick. I would much rather prefer watching through the web rather than having to download every episode, and I'd also much rather stream it wirelessly than have to tie and hook up my laptop to my tv everytime.

Is there any other alternative for this? Or is there anyone that has AirFlick working that can help troubleshoot? Maybe its the specific website, but this is the one I need that has the shows that I watch! Thanks

I too am looking to do the same thing. For example I would like to stream ESPN3 or CBS.com through my ATV2.

Anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

The fact the most streaming content on the web is flash based is going to put a damper on the ability to watch streaming content on Apple products. Should have bought a Roku.

So with a Roku you can browse to a website and watch their content, like ESPN3.com or cbs.com?

Thanks for the help....

Roku doesn't have anything like Airplay so no. With an iOS device, you can Airplay any video from the internet as long as they have an html5 version which most sites do have these days. Due to the explosion of mobile devices, very few sites restrict you to flash only and even those few are disappearing fast.

On the Mac or PC (or any device that supports flash) you are going to be force fed Flash whether they have an HTML5 version or not so using Airflick on a computer won't work as well as just using an iOS device with Airplay to do what you're attempting to do.

The only catch is currently the site has to add an "Airplay= "Allow" parameter to the video to enable Airplay but there is a bookmarklet that adds that parameter to any video on the fly.

In iOS5 however, Apple changed it to enable Airplay by default so any web videos will work unless the website owner specifically disables it.

OK, so I need to stream the video from an IOS device. I cannot stream it from my mac?

I have tried streaming the video from TV.com (CBS site) but I am unable to get it to work with airplay.

Should I be able to stream an episode from tv.com on my iphone and have it work with airplay?

Sorry, I am a noobie when it comes to this stuff, thanks for the help!

Whats missing?

I need help. I have a Mac air computer and a new apple tv. There is a video on crackle.com I am viewing on my laptop (Mac air) but I would like to watch it on my big screen tv using my apple tv and AirPlay. I'm a complete virgin/rookie whatever. But I thought you could stream any content you can view on my laptop also on my tv. Via apple tv. How do I make this happen? Thanks. Greatly appreciate any help.
