Airplay Mirroring or Airplay

Hi all..

Trying to get AirPlay Mirroring to work on 10.8.1, but when I go to displays in System Preferences it says "No Devices Found" and the "Show mirroring options in the menu bar, when available" is checked, but greyed out

My Apple TV is connected via Ethernet, while my Mac is connected via WiFi to the same Wi-Fi router.

Apple troubleshooting & resolution on this claims it will work over Wi-FI, After all, how else can you do this from IOS from an iPhone..

Unless you must have Apple TV on Wi Fi too for this to work........*shrugs* If that is the case, why is this not mentioned ?

does your apple TV have atleast version 5.0?
