My iphone 6 only seems to use mirroring with Airplay now, as opposed to playing stuff on the Apple TV (3rd gen) in the background. That is, I can no longer use my iphone for other stuff while watching a video as it mirrors everything. Any way to change the settings for this? Thanks.

Airplay "casting" is activated in the media part of control center. Flip cc to the right and choose your Apple TV.

Don't know why i couldn't get it to work before, must have still been on the mirroring setting when I flipped right. But thanks to your quick reply, I retried it and its working now. :)

No probs. It's not immediately obvious when you're used to the previous way. There was a bit of confusion over it really in the beta cycle. I suppose it is at least logical to have the media casting part on the media panel of cc though.

Yup, Apple seems to have split up AirPlay and AirPlay mirroring and put them in separate sections of control centre.
