I have my 3rd Generation Apple TV hooked-up got my new Panasonic TV in the living Room. However, when I access the AirPlay "mirroring" on my Mac Mini(late 2014J) which is in the bedroom in order to send a movie from the SSD to the Apple TV I only get a Grey Screen on both the Mac Mini and TV with an OK soundtrack of the movie.

The Apple TV appears to be A-OK as I was able to connect the Airplay on my iPad Mini2 to the TV with no "problema".

Help!

Check the movie format -- http://iappsnow.com/2015/01/apple-tv-supported-format/ the link is AppleTv playable formats .. If the movie isn't in the proper format for AppleTv most likely won't play the video until its converted to proper format Batch Converts - I use HandBrake..

https://handbrake.fr >> under toggle Presents ( upper right corner) Select the which version of AppleTv you own that will have right preset for the box ... If you put the converted movie into iTunes then you also need to turn on home-share ON.. Home Share is under iTunes Preference > Sharing Tab > Bottom of the tab "Home-Share" box ..

Why not just select Computers from the UI on the AppleTV? It's been awhile, but I think all you have to do is add the library either on the computer and/or AppleTV with a 4-digit code.

Thanx guys as the problem is now fixed as I recorded these DVD's in the wrong format as The format needed was "Mp4" in order to fully connect to my Apple TV. I am using "DVDRipperPro" and "MacXRipper Pro" ripping software and I took the time to read more carefully the instructions in using these very good Software.
