My only desire for an Apple V pretty much in a nut shell is AirPlay - sending my iPhone, iPad and iMac to the big screen..

Is there an alternative box I can buy which broadcasts AirPlay? I've read about the rip lay adapters but want to be able to use it with lightning,

What's your objection over Airplay, and since u mentioned lightening, u want WIRED connection then, wireless doesn't work 4ru?

Are you just looking for an audio solution or are you looking for audio and video?

There are lots of other devices and receivers compatable with AirPlay audio, but I don't know of anything other than the ATV that does AirPlay video.

What with the strong rumours of apple creating some mind of iTV, I don't want to spend £100 on a device which can only offer one or two features that I'd use.

Also it should support browsing and the likes of catchup services like iPlayer?

And at above - airplay for video.

So your looking to use Airplay mirroring? As in your only concerned with mirroring what is on your ipad, imac to your TV?

The Apple TV does not have browsing or iplayer capabilities, however by mirroring your ipad, imac then you would get a mirror image as to what is currently displayed on your imac, ipad.

Not sure if this is all you are looking for or not. Also not sure how old you imac is as airplay mirroring will only work with newer macs. There are alternatives for older macs with things like air parrot.

I feel u. Unfortunately any other solution, if it exist, is not going to save u that much, if any.
