Hi all,

I'm not sure this is the correct section for this.

I am really interested in wirless music, from my iphone and PC. AirPlay seems quite exciting to me. I have looked into availible products to stream music to. The iHome AirPlay looks great and i think i will be buying if its sub £200. But i also want to stream to my existing kit.

Do you think adapters to plug into existing amps will becoming availible? I know there is the AirPort express, but i just want the airplay. The Airport does other stuff and is quite expensive.

AirPort Express really has this market covered. They're $69 refurbished on the U.S. Apple Store. Even better, you can get a 802.11g model for around $40 on eBay.

You might look into the Roku Soundbridge, if they even still make it. I'm sure it's not AirPlay compatible though.

Everything else (Sonos, etc) is more expensive than the AEX.

Thanks. I know airport will do the job. It seems like overkill to me as I dont need all of it's wireless extender and USB functions. But nice tip on the g band. I will check that out.

I've wondered about dongle adapters which plug into current ipod docks and enable Airplay sharing. They could even be powered by the 30-pin connector.

AEX or Apple Tv, either does the job perfectly with your existing amp & speakers.
I got an aTV for music initially, but I've enjoyed using it to stream videos too, so much so that I've started tagging my videos that I never used to

This is exactly the sort of thing I would like to see. Early days still I guess. Still the ihome iw1 looks amazing

The airport express also offers digital output, so you can use it with better DACs (like you have in many receivers), so it offers another benefit over an iPod dongle.

Sorry for the dumb question but can you play movies through your Airport Express to a receiver? Or do you need ATV?

You can only play music/sound through the Airport Express. No video. Currently, you can stream the sound from a movie or youtube clip to the Airport Express while the video plays in your iPhone/iPad.
