Good question. I quit formatting my files for apple as I always try to use Beamer. I'll try one of my older files and see if it works. But having said that; I did get the file to play through Itunes. Also; shouldn't my desktop show on my tv when I use Airplay; now it doesn't; just goes to a black screen?
Beamer does the transcoding. iTunes does not so not only do software limitation apply but hardware too on the AppleTV.
Airplay, depends on whether you are AirPlaying a specific piece of media (activated from the player) or AirPlay Mirroring (activated from Display Preferences or in the right of the menu bar in enable in Display Preferences for easy access).
Using the player/itunes should provide better quality then mirroring. Also mirroring isn't a work around for HDCP, they can still block you. Netflix does this
however only in Safari, open Chrome and it works fine.

If that is the case; why do these illegal movies play in Itunes?
Might not be your issue but only if media is DRM protected does it get hard to share/stream/play/etc.
Being "illegal" doesn't have anything to do with it.
BTW I know you were just joking
but be careful with what you do and say, forum rules aside you wouldn't want to end up like Bryan White here.

Ended up with a 241,000 dollar judgement....for 5 movies.....
If anyone finds that interesting here is a video about it. Its funny how he tried to format the hard drive...
