Airplay, Sync issues.

Whats up guys anyone who's tried Airplay (Playing video on ipad audio on Atv) is it way out of sync? I know I have a small sync issue as the only available digital input left on my receiver is Coax. So I had to get an optical to coax converter so I've noticed some tiny audio sync issues streaming videos from my computer. however previews from the itunes store look to be perfectly in sync. but Watching a youtube video on ipad with the audio coming thru ATV is wayyyyy off. like probably 2-3 seconds.

From my experience using airtunes, that is to be expected. It has a couple second buffer time.

Using airfoil to stream audio over airtunes has that same delay.

Even using iTunes to stream has the delay, but the interface is delayed as well so it matches the audio coming out the other end. To see this for yourself, play a track and in the middle of it, skip to the next, when playing only out of your local speakers, it's pretty quick, but when at least one airtunes source is hooked up, it takes a couple seconds.

I believe Apple buffers a second or two delay for Airplay so the audio and video on all sources are kept in sync. Since the video part of Airplay is not enabled yet, you are probably not getting a delay for the video as was designed which is why the video on your ipad is not in sync with the audio on the ATV.

When iOS 4.2 comes in November, both the video and the audio from Airplayed content like Youtube will likely be sent to the ATV with the same delay and everything will be in sync.

I think it was more of a bug cause I jumped from the iPod app to pandora to YouTube before playing the video all thru airplay. I tried it again by playing stuff normally thru the iPad speakers. Then went into YouTube and turned on air play and the sync was almost perfect.
