Hi folks,

From iTunes or from any iDevice (using remote app) I am able to send videos to my AppleTV and music to my sound system.

I would like to send a movie's video to the AppleTV and the sound to my sound system (a great way to have a wireless home theatre setup), can it be done?? I believe it can't be done, but I would love to be proven wrong.

Either use a TV-out connection if your TV provides one, or route your HDMI cables through your receiver (if your receiver is HDMI-enabled).

I don't think it can be done by streaming the audio and video separately, but you could connect the ATV to your sound system either through HDMI or Optical.

You can hook up the ATV to your TV via HDMI, and run the Optical Audio from the ATV to your receiver. Just remember to turn the volume of your TV all the way down.

Thanks for the replies. I am afraid you guys are right. I was hoping for an entirely wi-fi connection: the Apple TV connected to my projector and an airport express connected to my sound system...
