Ok a little info of the associated hardware & software being used first
I have a couple ipad 3's jailbroken on ios 8.1
I was using the NHL Game center App ver 4.0924
Was air-playing a game to our mid 2011 i5 mac mine that is running osx 10.9.4.
The app I use within osx for airplay is X-Mirage ver 1.05.2
While watching a out of area game it was getting late, therefore I figured I would finish the game from the comfort of our bedroom and airplay to a ATV 3 v1 running ios 7.0
From the ipad I simply flicked up at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu and change the airplay from the X-Mirage mac mini to the apple tv as I normally would do. But here is were is gets strange and has NEVER done this before. The video never stopped playing on our Sony flat screen TV that is connected to the mac mini. But I could also hear in playing in the bedroom and indeed it was in full HD as it also continued full HD from the mac mini.
I waited & continued to watch the game on the mac mini thinking it was cached video, NOPE!
Normally the video would simply stop and I would put the mini into sleep mode and shut the TV off. Not this time.
I had to force close the X-Mirage app within the mac mini.
I know that airplay supports many speakers as we use several older airport wireless N expresses for multi-room audio. But this is the first time I have experienced full HD video being air played to two different devices.
Again this being a ver 1 ATV3, this means that all airplay must being using the local network as only the ver2 supports direct wifi airplay.
I have tried to replicate the issue as I can see many benefits to this but have been unable to do so.
I am thinking this was a glitch within the mac mini & X-Mirage airplay software, I think idk
What I did learn is airplay indeed can support multiple displays/devices and the video was great on both. 1080p without any stutters and such as my wireless network is solid as is our broadband.
Now this may not be news to some? Is there an app this supports this feature?
I have been using this setup now a long time, this glitch has never happened in the past. I was first worried that crap my jailbreak may have just broke and sure enough ios 8.1.3 is out
Not the case my jailbreak seems as solid today as it was months ago.
