Hi all...

Am trying to output audio from my Mac to Apple TV, but it only outputs the video... no audio comes out from TV speakers even if I select the Apple TV as Output under System Preferences >> Sound.

Does this only work via iTunes ? As I'm trying to do this from something i'm playing in VLC. (Attached).

A discussion existed on the Apple forums about and the solution was "to change the output before you mirror", but you can't since the output is not displayed UNTIL you have mirrored.

RE: AirPlay, VLC, ATV,...

Hi Tech198,

Yeah, AirPlay mirroring can be obstinate at times. I would check the "Audio Device" in the "Audio" menu of VLC, then the "Output" in the "Sound" pane of System Preferences, as you have done. I've also noticed that sometimes I've had to "reboot" the ATV to get this to work.

Sorry that this is not much help.

Good luck,
Switon
