I've been having a problem with my AirPods 3. I often open up the case to use them only to find that the right one dead, even when it's been sitting in the fully charged case for some time. Sometimes the case itself has lost a bit of charge. I suspect that the right AirPod is frequently being discharged and sometimes recharged when not in use. I always ensure that it is placed in the case properly and appears to be charging when I close it, but halt the time it's dead or near dead the next time I open the case.

I've carefully cleaned the AirPod and its charging slot. No such problem with the left AirPod.

The obvious thing is of course to take it to the Apple Store, but I thought I would check to see if anyone has any insights here first. I'm also unsure how I would demonstrate the problem. Most of the time it seems that the case is charging the AirPod. It's only when I come back to it later that it's dead.

I have the same issue, very annoying! It seem to be pretty common as well. I haven’t found a solution.

Go to Apple if you still have warranty left, I’m sure they know its a common issue.

Well, I have a Genius Bar appointment today. I’m not sure what if anything they will do about it. It doesn’t sound like there’s a fix, even if it is a common issue.

AirPods 3 are still under warranty until at least this October. I do not think an Apple Genius can repair them on the spot, but they certainly can swap the faulty AirPod or the whole set for you under warranty.

They gave me a new right Air Pod. Even though they’re under warranty, I expected them not to find anything wrong because it’s not something that I can consistently demonstrate on the spot.

I forget how accommodating Apple can be at times.

I have the same issue. At first I thought maybe it wasn’t going in all the way or touching the metal contacts, or the magnets weren’t working correctly. It’s always the right airpod 3, happens last randomly. Interesting that we all have the same issue.
