My AirPod pro earbuds will only allow one to work at a time and cannot put both in the case at the same time or I get a flashing orange light. I checked and my left earbud has firmware 4C165 and the right is 4E71. I tried everything to try to get the left airpod to update and I am out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated

This happened to me a year or so ago by accident when I had to have one side replaced by Apple. One side was behind in firmware and would never update. Apple had to ship me out a new pair. There was no way at the time to update only one side. I thought maybe Apple had fixed this by now. Good luck.

you can try unpairing and re-pairing the AirPods, that might get them to update

you can also try plugging in the case, and leaving your phone next to them overnight
