Airpods 1rst generation disconnects during phone calls

Hello,

For the last weeks, even though I have not upgraded or changed anything, my airpods (1rst generation) disconnect after 2-3 minutes during phone calls on my Iphone XS Max. Whether it is during calls, what's app calls, skype they disconnect. However they do not disconnect while listening to music which is very strange. I tried to unpair / pair them a few times but same. Anyone experiencing the same situation?

I had the same problem, it's the battery. They work *fine* until the microphone is used and they instantly cut out/die.
