I've got a AirPods 2 with Charging Case as a gift from my company for teleconferencing. However, multi device sharing via iCloud ID isn't working. It only works on a single device at the moment. Either my iPhone 12 or my Mac mini but not on both. I did some research and realised my firmware isn't the most updated.

Have tried updating the AirPods by plugging in lightning cable and placing it beside my iPhone, but it still isn't working for over 2 days. Firmware version is still 0D1607. Also tried resetting and re pairing it to the phone but update still doesn't happen.

Should I just bring it down to an Apple Store?

Play music on your phone for a few seconds, then take out the AirPods and set them on the table with the phone. Don't turn anything off. It will update. Sometimes it takes a while, but you don't have to do anything to update the firmware. It does it itself.

I got a pair last week. It took me a few hours to get them to pair. The trick that worked was to listen to a song from my library and then put them in the case while on the charger and located next to my phone. The firmware updated within 45 minutes.

I agree that the firmware number is not a match for an official apple firmware number. Mine came with 2D15, I believe, and are now on 3E751.

Here is a link with the list of firmware releases:

That firmware doesn’t look like a version Apple ever used/released. I don’t think you have an authentic pair of AirPods.
Yeap... it's turns out to be a fake. Thank God I manage to get a refund for it. Many thanks to all whom provided me with the information!
