FORMERLY NJ now FL
Was out running with my wife 4 days ago and used my cooling towel to wipe off my face and flipped my right air-pod into the grass. Spent an hour looking for it, no luck so went home and got a grass rake and raked along about 75 feet of grass along the sidewalk where we were running where it might have gone and couldn't find it. Found lots of other crap but no air-pod. The grass was very coarse deep and uncut Florida grass. Still no luck. Went back home and ordered a replacement right pod ($69 + TAX!!). Really annoyed as they were 2 mos old. Next morning, same run same place stopped again and wife and I spent about 30 mins in both directions looking ... nothing. Yesterday replacement arrived and believe it or not was defective. 2 hours online with Apple and they were sending me a new complete set.

(I'm sure you know where this is going! :D)

This went on for 3 days. Same run, looked same places going both directions. During all these days (I am in central FL) it's been 90-95 degrees and we had over 5" of typical Florida afternoon downpours. Rained every afternoon and evening. Well needless to say, today same run same spot I looked again and THERE IT WAS! Just about in plain sight. All the rain must have raised it up from the tall grass. Took it home, and it was still working perfectly and 85% charged!

Amazing how this thing survived and where and how it appeared. Strange part was it had what looked like a small pierced hole in the plastic like the shell was pierced by something sharp. Wife's theory is maybe a squirrel or rat picked it up and spit it out thinking it was dessert and was how we found it.

Called Apple, canceled the replacement for the replacement :) and am sending it back.

Sorry .... we both just found this really funny and strange so I decided to share our "cool story."

Bottom line is these thing take a licking and keep on ticking. Everyone clap now please! :D

Did you try using Find iPhone to fine them?

It works pretty well in that sort of environment!
