I just bought my Airpods a month ago, when using them and the screen is off on my iPhone, I'm not getting text previews on my phone when a text comes in...it just lights up the screen and goes back to sleep.

Also, when answering a call, according to Apple's support page, it says for the 2nd gen, you only have to tap the Airpod once and it answers the call. That's not what I'm experiencing at all, I'm having to tap them NUMEROUS times to get them to answer the call.

Any ideas? I can't seem to find anything online about this.

Apparently I'm having to double tap the AirPod for it to answer a call, single tap is NOT working. I have verified with Apple that I do have the 2ND generation AirPods. Not sure what is going on here.

If you look through that page, you will notice that everything related to AirPods second generation involves a double-click and answering a phone call is not an exception. My AirPods G2 behave in exactly the same way, that is I need to double-tap to answer a call. Also, depending on at which angle they are inserted makes a difference to how responsive they are to the taps, so you might need to tap softer/harder to register the command.

Sorry, I was referring to text message previews not showing up when using AirPods and the screen is locked. They don't work.

Did you try unpairing and re-pairing the AirPods and rebooting the phone? That usually fixes a lot of issues.

Yes, I've unpaired and re-pair, same issue. It's also happening when the phone is on speaker as well, this must have something to do with the latest iOS update. It was not doing this before. Anyone else here who can test this out? I have a XR running the latest version of iOS.
