I got AirPods 3, because I don't really like the feeling of in-ear headphones in my ears. They sound surprisingly good, I almost don't feel them at all, but they don't block any outside noise.

It's all about fit with these two - the 3s were uncomfortably large for my ears, but if you've got big earholes are probably great.

Also, if you are using for Zoom/Teams calls at work I personally think in ear headphones like the Pros are not the best option. I use the Pros generally, but keep 2s around for calls.

I would seriously consider the 2s as another option.

I would use it mainly for music or calls so my phone could charge at the same time. I have a work headset for calls at work. I have a paid or wired headphones but I can’t charge and listen to music at the same time :(

Airpods 3:
- Better battery life (6 hours vs 4.5 hours on the Pros)

Airpods Pro:
- Noise cancelling
- Customizable ear tip sizes

I think the Airpods Pro are a better buy out of the two if you don't mind the shorter battery life. Although, I think the Airpods Max is the best option if you don't mind spending the $550 as the battery lasts quite a long time (20 hours), and you can also charge it while listening at the same time.

I gave my son my pros when I purchased the 3s and regret that. The AirPods 3 fall out of my ears far too easily and I’m now awaiting the Pro 2 so i can give the 3s to my daughter.

Unlike the old ‘it just works’ these 3s are also a pain when it comes to connecting to my phone. Worst earphones I’ve had.

As you can see from the many varying posts I would like to caution that fit and comfort should be your top priority. I via high cost have tried the APP , AP2 and BFP. If you can find somewhere they will let you try / test the different models that would be best. I have since sold my APP and am most happy with the Beats Fit Pro for sound comfort and use while exercising. Give them all a try!

I can't speak for the 3's however I find the fit and noise cancellation on the Pro's to be worth the extra cost. Silicone tips aren't for everyone but feel more comfortable when they're worn for long periods of time. Is there a way you could try both (eg: store or buy both and return one), I can only say how I found the Pro's and have never tried the original design or 3.

IMO, you need to try both to decide, just as you would try new shoes on. Our ear anatomy is very different, so what fits one, does not fit another. The same for the sound perception.

I did consider both when deciding which AirPods to purchase. I went with 3 because they resembled old school EarPods.

I do not need noise cancellation, and I can't stand the silicon ear tips on the Pros. I think they would dirty really fast, I would need to replace them all the time. And frankly it freaks me out to insert something so far down my ears.

To me, it's not even the price point. I figured by the time a product hits 3rd gen, it's pretty solid.

Last Friday I purchased the AirPods Pro but did not open the box, so, I took them back to the Apple Dealership last Monday to change them for the AirPods 3 which do not have those Rubber Tips sticking in your years and I do not need Noise Cancellation. These AirPods 3 are very comfortable in my ears, great sound and very easy to set-up and connect to my iPhone SE2, iPad(6th Gen.), iPad Mini 5 and my Apple TV 4K. Also, with the Purchase of these AirPods 3 I also was able to subscribe to Apple Music for six(6) months free-of-charge. Oh, this is my First purchase of any type of Apple AirPods.

Congratulations. Enjoy yours. I use mine mostly for meditation, exercise, and listening to music. On Zoom calls I still resort to old, reliable EarPods. And on regular calls, I answer my phone the old fashioned way. :)

My take. I was absolutely allergic to the AirPods Pro. Itching, swollen ear canals, pain, just awful feeling.

Got my 3s today. Been in my ears for at least seven hours so far with no irritation. Love them.

I hope you find the ones that work for you.

I'm using the 3's for 6 months now, and I love them. Could wear it all day, and I don't even notice it. Don't have to touch it during running and workouts either.
Now, I tried the pros for the noise cancelling. They sound worse. Less rich sound, quiter, bass is worse. It's not a huge difference, but it's there. Also the fit is worse for me. Constantly need to plug it further during workouts. It also has this plugged in feeling that I don't like. My copy had bad build quality too, misaligned edges, and some glue on the exterior.
So for me, 3's all the way. Sure I miss sound canceling sometimes (mostly in the gym), but I made my peace with that.
