Hello everyone :)

I am thinking of getting AirPods 3 2021, I already have the earplugs with cable that used to come with iPhones, and I have the Beats EP On Ear. so what I am wondering, is it worth upgrading to the AirPods? is the sound much better than what I already have?

-John

AirPods are not just about the sound quality, it’s about the form factor and ease of use. I have the 3s and like them. They fit fine and the stems are now smaller, which is nice. Some people don't like the fit, so this is very subjective.

Yeah - I'd say there are very few 'use cases' where they'll make a huge impact on you if you already have good headphones. However, I really like them for lots of small reasons that are better than other things:

- I don't think you can underestimate how good the syncing across devices is if you have lots of apple gear
- the 'auto recognition' of taking one out of your ear is also very good to pause whatever you're listening to
- no cables at all (even between your ears) is so freeing
- the spatial audio *on very specific things* is really brilliant. I listened to the remastered 10,000Hz Legends by Air today and it is absolutely amazing. However there are limited scenarios you'd get to use these so definitely not £170 of fun. Podcasts for example, it sounds worse on Spatial as they're not mastered for it at all

Honestly, I'd say if you can afford them and are happy to spend the money, get them. I still find them a little bit magical and have been using the various versions since the first ones came out.

They shocked me that it has no noise cancelling at price 179

Thanks for the reply :)

I haven't bought AirPods yet, should I get the AirPods 2 gen, or the 3 gen? I have seen a lot of people on this forum complaining about the 3 gen doesn't fit perfectly. I don't want to have to return them, so I have to choose the right ones. Is the sound quality better on the 3 gen than the 2 gen?

edit: I can buy the 2 gen for 162 USD I my country, and the 3 gen for 232 USD

The sound of AP3 compared to AP2 is much better, IMO. It is more immersive, with way better bass. Spatial audio is also great, even when applied to regular stereo tracks.

The AP3 fit can be problematic for some, but this depends on the individual ear anatomy.

It depends on where you from
If you never use an airpod, it should be a great start
but if you already use airpod pro, just wait for pro 2

Thank you for the reply :) its a difficult decision I have to make, I do want the ones with the better sound, but at the same time I don't want to have to return them if they don't fit.

Thanks for the reply ? I have never used AirPods before, like I said in the first post, I have the ones that used to came with the iPhones before, and the Beats EP headphones. AirPods Pro is a little bit more expensive than I would want to use

Yes, the fit is very individual. Apple EarPods, AP1, AP2 and AP3 all fit me very well, yet I had a problem with AirPods Pro. If you want to be sure, find a way of trying them before buying. Ask somebody you know who already has them or try to find a shop/reseller selling them?
