Airpods 3rd gen supports find my. To reset or unpair from a previous owner how is this done?

If the last owner hadn’t unpaired/reset or something is it still attached to their iPhone/find my/AppleID? Or once you reset them is it unpaired from all their devices.

I’m just thinking it’s like iPhone activation lock whereas they couldn’t pair with a new iPhone.

Does the last owner have to do this like on iPhone activation lock, or can you just pair with a new iPhone and it will attach to your AppleID for your find my.

Thanks

Thanks for that some good tips there.

Still want this answered though. If you buy a pair of 2nd hand AirPods, or you give away/sell and forget to reset, will they be permanently still connected to the find my of the original owner or can they just do this 10s reset process and then add to their own?

With an iPhone you can’t do this, you have to switch it off first, not sure if AirPods are the same.

Thanks
