Has anyone already bought AirPods 4? I wonder about AirPods 4 sound quality compared to AirPods 2. I currently use AirPods 2 so when it’s finally time to upgrade I will be looking at AirPods 4. I know there are YouTube reviews but I would love to hear comments from you guys.

I am by no means an audiophile, but I honestly prefer their sound quality to the Airpor Pro 2. I have both. The APP2 has far superior ANC, but the Pods 4 is decent. Because of their open design, I find their sound quality to be more full and 3 dimensional. It’s as if there is more room between the instuments of the music. YMMV.

So you prefer the sound quality of the AirPods 4 over the AirPods Pro 2?

They are incredibly good, a huge step up from the AirPods 2 and plenty of bass. One of the best purchases I’ve made if I’m honest.

I made the upgrade from AP2 to AP4 (no ANC) and the sound difference is night and day better. Took a little getting used to the difference in fit as the 4's fill the ears as the 2's just sat in the lower part, but I find them comfortable enough for my 1 hour walks. I also have Beats fit pro and the 4's are at least comparable the 4's use the H2 chipset and the Beats use the H1, also the 4's are lighter in the ears than the Beats. However the Beats win out on controls as the 4's only have minimal.

The AP4 has more bass than AP2, but I'm not really sure it's "better" sound if I'm being honest

It is "thumpier" sound, which I do realize some really prefer
(this is basically the whole value prop w/ Beats products)

I took AP4 on a long hike yesterday and honestly found the music a bit fatiguing eventually, somewhat due to all the bass

Just adding a data point

When comparing with AP2, one has to realize that the design and how much is getting right into your ear (vs escaping to the sides) impacts this. I have some tips that direct the AP2 opening/sound much more into your ear canal and it's pretty shocking how good AP2s actually do sound, when the sounds gets into your ear instead of escaping.

I really believe this accounts for a majority of perceived sound differences for users
