I've been looking at the promotional material for the upcoming bragi headphone and it looks pretty sweet. Slightly cheaper than airpods, has actual controls on the earphones and decent battery life. What do you guys think?

I like these very much. They look very discreet and can easily be hidden. Six hours of battery life and inline controls are nice As well. And I prefer black. The price point is the downside at $300.00.

If the Airpods don't debut in the next Month or so, these are bookmarked for me.

No no. These aren't the dash. These are the new "headphone" which are literally half the price! Even better, man! $150 is the sweet spot for me

Looks much larger (and I suppose heavier) than the AirPods. No matter what they say about the design I doubt it can be confortable and fit securely for everyone.

Also the experience of charging/pairing/connecting them in the Apple ecosystem won't be as seamless.

Only possible upside I see is that given the design isolation should be quite better and that the *might* produce better sound (this remains to be seen - or heard - but the AirPods are quite basic in the sound quality department and shouldn't be difficult to beat).

No design will fit all ears perfectly. I know that EarPods do not fit my ears, so pretty confident that AirPods will not either.

The whole charging pairing argument doesn't hold much water either. Pairing Bluetooth is quite easy nowadays. Charging these is as simple as charging the Headphone, other than the case is not a battery.

I pre ordered these and looking forward to trying them out. Hopeful they will fit my ears. Excited they have controls for basic functions. Using Siri as the AirPods do is less than ideal. Also, a friend who uses the Dash says the audio transparency feature is pretty nice.

I'll update this thread with my review if you all want it. It supposedly is still on schedule to ship end of the month.

I am certainly not disputing than AirPods won't fit everyone, but not sure how you go from there to confidently saying the design of these "will fit all ears perfectly". In my experience, Bluetooth earphones which look that large and try to pack too large electronics and batteries in the earphones themselves while having no other way to hold them into placethan the way they fit into your ear are usually awkward for a number of people in terms of confort and secure fit.

I won't buy AirPods for other reasons, but Apple seems to have done an amazing engineering job in terms of reducting the size and weight required for the battery and electronics, and from that perspective the bragi don't come even close.

You've misquoted me. I said "No design will fit all ears perfectly".

Misquoting someone is not cool.

We are saying the same thing about fit: nothing will fit everyone and so choice is good.

In terms of size, neither is out yet to compare. I have seen the Dash with my own eyes, and they are quite small. I have no doubt the AirPods will please some and disappoint some. Required Siri is, for me, a major drawback.

An alternative IF we do not see the Airpods. That alternative is not any cheaper though and Apple will have the Airpods out for Xmas IMHO and most probably will go that route and wait.

Actually to be honest .... Bragi, Jabra (Sport Elite's) and about 5 other smaller 3rd party truely-wireless headset earpiece makers are following the same charging/case design principle. Lightning Cable vs MicroUSB is the same as before.

The sound quality we really know nothing about, along with active noise cancelling or spacial sound pass-thru if that'll come along on shipping day of the AirPods. Nobody but Apple employees involved.

I'm more concerned if Apple will allow someone to buy just 1 replacement earpiece that in the case and via iOS/macOS will repair into a new paired sync with the non-lost half of the original pair.

We need foam accessories to colour or flag the AirPods and loops to give them a more rounded universal or custom fit.

Then Next year Apple will release these in Jet Black, Black, Space Grey, Silver, Rose Gold, and in Gold to match our iPhones, iPads, MacBooks and of course our AppleWatches so that we can ALL co-ordinate.

PS: I watched the pilot show of NetFlix's Original Series Broken Mirror (which is exactly like The Twillight Zone in many ways). I'm afraid Apple is getting so such a future with FB, Insta-whatever, and such as ratings tied to ApplePay will be the end all and be all of the kids sandbox where fake personalities and populatories win.

I just watched The Headphone unboxing. That charging case looks twice the size of the AirPods one. If you plan on taking your headphones on the go with you and not stashing the case in a bag but rather a front pocket that is something to consider. I really love how tiny that AirPods charging case is.

Always trade offs. The Headphone case is not a battery charger either as compared to AirPods. Tbh, I don't plan to ever have the case in my front pockets though :) But again, trade offs. With the AirPods it is unfortunate that Apple requires Siri to do so much. And of course the whole fit issue. I just hope the Bragi's are a good product.

Honestly I think that sucks. Just about all these upcoming or current truly wireless headphones come with a charging case for on-the-go. If you don't need more than 6 hours in one day without access to recharge it's no biggie. But I'd rather have the peace of mind that I can charge on-the-go.

There will always be tradeoffs. Sounds like the AirPods check off all your needs. For me, usability and fit are more important, and the AirPods miss the mark for me on those. At least on paper. Maybe both will be great. Maybe both horrible. We'll hopefully find out soon.

AirPods are hugely flawed IMO. Just the best option when all things consider IMO from the small pool of choices for truly wireless at this moment.

How do you define small pool? Lots of Bluetooth options.

Solid review. The issues they call out are all things I've thought about. Always tradeoffs. Excited to get mine, as I did the preorder. At worst, I'll return them and I'm out nothing more than shipping.

Wow. I wasn't sold on getting these at all until the verge posted their glowing review of them saying that these are infinitely better than the dash at half the price. Solid Bluetooth connection and sound quality. Might pick these up. Shipping these month with no date for the airpods in sight
