Does anyone else feel like the right ear is letting in more sound than their left? I’ve tried all the tips and the test says I have a good seal but it definitely feels like the noise cancellation is more powerful in one ear than the other. Or maybe I’m just going deaf.

have the same problem. I also hear a clicking sound sometimes from the right pod, it happen at least 2 times per day. After the clicking sound, the right pod loses its ANC as well, I have to place them in the case and wait at least 1 minute to get them work again. I will take them to Apple on Sunday, have a Genius Bar appointment

Happens in transparency mode as well. but not when I use the off modes. so it seems to be a problem with the hardware or software

I have noticed this also (right ear sounds a little louder or balance seems to be a bit more toward right ear). I also tried a second pair with same results. Almost seems as if the sound field separation of the music is more pronounced to the effect of making the right side seem louder.

I think the frustrating part is knowing if it’s a ear tip fit issue or a software issue

I got an issue similarly to this. When cars and trucks drive by, I get a louder humming or what to call it in my left earbud. It almost sounds like the external mic is letting sound in. I’m getting a good seal with all the tips but I’m gonna try a bit more with the medium and large on the left ear. It’s really hard to tell if my left ear is shaped differently or the left earbud is faulty.

I too kinda wonder if maybe the seal on the left ear is a little looser than the right. Sometimes (especially when running) it seems as such.

I actually tried the medium ones on the right pod for a whole day, it still have the same issue

Plus it is happening more often now, especially the air humming on the right pod. so it begins with a clicking sound on the right pod then it switches to air humming instead. so I really think it is the ANC hardware that is the problem.

I’ve got this too and was just about to experiment with a different sized eartip.

Edit: just checked with a bigger ear tip. The problem is still there. The right ear picks up more outside noise when in ANC mode whereas the left ear remains quiet.
I’m really hoping it’s a firmware issue!

I would exchange them if you’re within the return window. If not, I would call Apple support.

move already exchanged them once. I don’t think it’s a specific problem to mine. I believe it’s a software problem.

Mine have worked perfectly. Don’t notice an imbalance and I’m very critical.
Wow ok, good to know. That means that some of them may not have this issue.

Like the OP said, they’ve already exchanged once and the new ones also have this issue. At this point I feel like I’d rather wait for a firmware update as the Apple store isn’t very close to me.

Have the exact same issues with my right earbud
- less ANC in right
- with on, get crackle/distortion in right when loud noise is heard (cough, sneeze, etc)
- intermittent initial buzzing when putting in the right bud
- seal test fails on right no matter what tip I use

didn’t have these issues initially when I bought them. I’m thinking it’s related to the newest firmware

people with the same issue, what firmware you guys on?
