I have the first gen AirPods, when I call someone I can hear them fine, but they can’t hear me.

I reset the AirPods same issue. Anyone else notice this?
It could be a microphone issue. Try configuring the microphone to the right and test and then the left. You can do this in the Bluetooth settings - Airpods. If that doesn't work then I would talk to Apple or take them back to the store.

Thanks tried that and no go. If I hit the right AirPod it brings up Siri on the phone. And what’s weird if I tape the Bluetooth icon bottom right it shows 2 AirPods. I can’t change from one to the other. This also happens on another iPhone. So it must be my AirPods that are causing the issue.

There is an option in the bluetooth settings to pick which ear you want the microphone to always be using.
Settings>Bluetooth>AirPods (i) and then at the bottom it defaults to automatic but you can have it always on left or right. I had to do this because my right AirPod mic went out and people had a hard time hearing me so I changed it to only use the left and they said there wasn't a problem.

I changed mine to left and no go, changed to right and no go. Looked at the bottom of the AirPod where the mic is and saw a bunch of green glue like substance. Cleaned it off and still no go. I’m now wondering if the glue came off and is blocking the mic.

Will give Apple a call and see what they say.
