I don´t like that the batteries of the Airpods are stored at 100% the whole time and that there is no possibility to switch off the airpods for storing them outside the case. The batteries are aging the most in this status and will loose per year at least 10% capacity without using them. It would be nice to get from the iOS the option to set the maximum charging rate to 80% or 90% because the average using times are mostly below 4.5 hours I assume. For me 1-2 hours usage time would be enought in the most cases, so I could live with a maximum charging level between 70% and 80%.

I´ve searched already the web for a couple of days if any third party case or charger is available either for the Airpods Pro or the old ones, which offers this option, but haven´t found one yet. Could perhaps be a market niche for at least the battery aware type of Airpods enthusiasts ;)

What do you think?

It's expensive, disposable stuff. Apple doesn't care about longevity.

My regular first gen Airpods have lost a lot of their battery life in 18 months, one of the airpods has 20% less than the other, and they were always used/charged together as a pair.

Apple doesn't seem to care, they just want to charge a replacement fee.
