I think since we have a bit more info on updated Airpods coming later in the year, you could wait.

If v2.0 came with BT5 & you had a phone that also supports it, then I'd definitely encourage you to wait, but I'm not sure if the new Airpods will come with it..others can confirm.

I'm waiting for the introduction and reviews of both the next AirPods and the AirPower. Will probably then buy both or neither.

is it worth buying the AirPods now or wait until AirPods 2 come out?

The AirPods are difficult to come across right now as it is with most retailers. It’s been predicted Versuon 2 will launch late 2018. So the decision is up to you if you feel like waiting that long or not. I personally would take advantage of the current version if you find them available. I don’t see version two of the AirPods being drastically different, likely some added functionality.

Anything we have now as far as rumors, they are just that. I don't doubt they will upgrade them very soon, but I am very happy with mine now. Best Apple accessory I have ever used, which was a Christmas gift from my wife.

I don’t think there will be a meaningful update until next fall at the earliest, but maybe Apple decided to hold off on the wireless charging case so they can include it with gen 2 earlier than expected.

I am really tempted by the airpods, but then I put in my earpods and remember how they just aren't comfortable in my ears. Why Apple must you insist on making hard plastic earbuds?

I felt the same, and to this day still do not like the wired EarPods. I took a chance when I lost my other bluetooth earbuds, and LOVE them. Best accessory hands down. I don't know if it's because they are slightly lighter, or there is no pull of the wire when I move, but they are very comfortable for me.

You may consider buying the AirPods to try. There is always the return period if they don't work for you.

Got a set of AirPods last week and love them. The ear buds that came with the phones NEVER stayed in my ears but these fit great and I'm not concerned with them falling out.

I don't see v2 of the AirPods to bring too much different to the table. If you want them now, get them

I just bought them yesterday and have to say: Man, am i impressed.

Pairing is wonderful, bass is present, comfort of going wireless is a huge win.

For me they are already an timeless pair of headphones.

However the fit was not great, so I ordered some EarSkinz I’ve known from the EarPods already and with them on I have 0 worries of losing them.

And the ease of use is still given, considering, putting silicones on and off takes literately 10 seconds.

So to conclude for me: Still a great purchase!

I’d go ahead and get them now. You can always sell them if the new version is a massive upgrade. As others have said, I’ve never seen a better product from Apple. I absolutely love mine! To me the sound is considerably better than the wired EarPods. I have Beats X, Jaybird X3 and Bose Soundsport and have no problem with the sound quality of the AirPods. X3’s may be a bit better but not a massive difference. Start enjoying them now.

What phone supports it?

I would get them now. I don't see them being updated that much this year other than the wireless charging, and you can always just buy that for $69 extra and sell your old one on eBay.

However, this is coming from someone who owns 3 pairs of AirPods, haha. (I love these things! I keep one for school and another for gym.)

Airpods are so light you don't even feel them or at least I don't.

It's not the weight, it's the size and shape. At least the earpods put pressure on the inside of my ears, feel like they just don't fit right.

Yea, I'm tempted. My wife just upgraded to an iPhone without a headphone jack, so I might buy her a pair as a trial.

I had issues with the fit of the EarPods too... it put pressure on a spot inside my ear that became excruciating after a short duration of wear. I stuck with my jabra bluetooth for the longest time. Finally - I lost my jabra and had to resort to the EarPods again, which I always kept with me in case of emergency (dead battery, forgot it, etc.), and decided to give them a solid chance this time, because I really wanted the AirPods to be able to work for me. I found that they were fine this time - and I think it's because I changed their resting position in my ear, but after a couple of weeks using the EarPods I am still ok. Just got my AirPods in the mail yesterday and so far I love them.

I can confirm, though, that they will not fit every ear -I was showing them to my daughter last night (adult child) and tried to put one in her ear, and I was FLOORED at how tiny her ears are! There is no way she could use these - they would literally have to be crammed into her ear, and that would just plain hurt. Meh.

I would get them if not for two reasons. 1) the ear/airpod design does not fit my ear well. They fall right out. I use Earhoox on the earpods and they work great-snug fit. I cant use these on the airpods without taking them on and off each charge. 2) They look ridiculous. Apple could have done better than 'cut off the wire on the earpod' design. It looks too similar to earrings.
