Anyone having issues with Airpods and call quality? (iPhone 8+ IOS 11.1.2)

When I call people they can't hear me for about 10 seconds, resulting in a slew of "Hello...hello....hello...?" and if said person i called managed to patiently wait the 10 seconds, they say i sound muddled and keep breaking in out and out of the call.

Don't think it occurs every time, but often enough to be a nuisance. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the Airpods and it still occurs. I'm going to head to the apple store this weekend, but was just wondering if anyone else experienced similar problems. Other than this issue, i love them.

I always take them out of my ears when my phone rings - it has always been horrible quality and need to quit the call and start a new one without them.

I have had no issues with calls. I have an iPhone 7 and the AirPods since last Dec. I sometimes need them for conference calls and nobody ever has said anything about the call quality. I call my wife all the time and I asked her when I first got them how I sounded and she said "normal". Maybe you need to reconnect them or have Apple take a look at them they are really good at replacing them if necessary. The only issue I have ever had with them is 1 airpod didn't charge correctly and they replaced it but it wasn't the airpod it was the case and they replaced that too. These are my favorite headphones by far and use them everyday when I work out and most days on conference calls.

Same. Call quality is very good and I can’t think of a time where a call was dropped. Only issue is when I’m outside and there is a lot of noise or wind (and living in San Francisco there’s a lot of wind). But in normal settings I rarely use the phone without the AirPods
