AirPods connect to Yamaha Receiver

I connected my AirPods to my Yamaha TSR 5810 Receiver successfully and sound comes through. But I have no way to control the volume. Does anyone know how to adjust the volume output?

The remote and the receiver itself does not control the AirPod volume. Nor does my iPhone.

Its not possible to Control the volume. The only way would be through Siri (Other than the iPhone), which clearly is not an option when you have a direct connection to your receiver taking control.
