AirPods connectivity issues

My AirPods hold solid connection to Iphone X but disconnects when connected to Macbook 2015. Anything I can try to fix that?

Also, any was to make AirPods to connect automatically to one of them when I take AirPods out of the charging case?

I find my Airpods auto connect to the last device they were paired to. If I was using them with my iPhone and want to use them on my Mac or iPad i have to pair them with that device and vice versa..
