This weekend, I used my airpods with my iPhone 7 on a long road trip. Mainly listened to podcasts via Overcast. iPhone 7 was plugged into a 4-port USB car charger.
Whenever I paused via double tap, and then resumed play, the audio would come out of the phone's speaker -- not the airpods. To get it back to the airpods, I figured out i just had to pull down notification center. No force press on the audio output controls. Literally a pulldown on the notification center will send the audio from the phone speaker back to the airpods.
has anyone experienced this before? what's causing it? i thought maybe the phone was getting confused between the airpod bluetooth and the car's bluetooth, so during one of our stops, i made the phone "forget" the car. but it still continued.
