Hi All,

I am considering getting some AirPods, possibly 3rd generation or Pro's. However, I am totally deaf in my right ear and wondered if anyone could suggest some cheaper alternatives as I can't justify spending £170+ when I'll only get 50% use out of them!

Can any suggest anything that have similar integration to MacOS and iOS/iPadOS?

Many thanks,

Craig

I am also deaf in one ear, I find AirPods work best with zero problems not using the other earbud. My advice would be to sell your 'spare' bud on eBay to recoup some of the cost :) Sold mine for around £65.

Also recommend the pros, there is an option in accessibility to use the noise cancelling feature with just the 1 bud.

Have either of you considered possible solutions to your SSD? Met rencently with an audiologist or ENT to learn about what is currently possible these days? There are medical devices available out there which offer solutions so that one gets a more balanced sound and usually they also include the ability to utilize software which connects via BT to one's iPhone or other brand of smartphone......so the user can really enjoy music!

Run a search on Cochlear.com, which is a long-established medical devices company which provides solutions for people with SSD, bilateral conductive hearing loss, etc. I think you'll be surprised at what is possible these days.....

I have CROS hearing aids that route the sound from my deaf ear to my working ear. They work okay but they don’t have bluetooth and the streaming sound quality via a device I use is less than ideal anyway

I don’t fancy a BAHA. My only option is to get some sort of AirPod alternative or fork out the cost for the full set.
