I‘m finding my iPhone ringer/notification volume to constantly work its way down to zero, even when I slide the volume to be louder either via the Settings—>Sound & Haptics—> Ringer and Alerts or by the side buttons. I can only assume that it has something to do with the airpods whose connection to the iPhond and iPad is constant (and switches to either device, depending upon which one I’m listening to).

This is enirely aggravating and I can’t ”fix” it. I can’t un-pair the AirPods from my iPhone since attempting to do so says it’ll disconnect from all devices on my iCloud account.

Anyone else falling victim to this and/or able to point out what I’m doing incorrectly that’s permitting my iPhone ringer volume to constantly go to zero?

Mine is doing the exact same thing. I came here hoping to find a potential solution. I'm not certain it's the AirPods, but it could be. I have some as well, but I've notice it change when I haven't used them. I contacted Apple Support a couple weeks ago about it, and spent a while on the phone troubleshooting with no resolution. We even did a restore from iTunes, but the issue remains.

My current theory is that some apps, like Instagram, change the ringer and alerts volume instead of the media volume with the volume buttons. Sometimes, when I try to turn a video volume up or down, the volume bar appears but the media volume doesn't adjust. I suspect it's actually the ringer and alerts volume that's adjusting. But I'm not at all certain, I just can't nail down what is the cause of the bug.

I also notice that the AirPods “system” isn’t as “smart” as they were when I got them. I’ll be listening to them on my ipad then they’ll jump to the iPhone without reason.

And, after placing both AirPods in the case, the ipad will continue to play sound thru them instead of turning control back to the ipad. This hasn’t happened before. Has this happened to anyone else?
