My niece upgraded her AirPods to the pro ones and gave me her 2nd generation AirPods since I lost one of mine. So she cleared it off her phone and when I connected to my phone, it said “not your AirPods” and so I had to connect manually. And once connected, it doesn’t give me the option to check the firmware and the Siri announce messages is not even there. I verified the model info with her box. They work, so it’s not a big deal, but I was curious as to why they wouldn’t show up in the “about” setting on phone.

Are you checking the “About” setting whilst either the lid’s flipped open & paired or they’re in your ears? They only show up there in either of those scenarios.
