AirPods icon flickers on iPhone

Hey all - haven't been able to find this anywhere else but maybe you guys know. During calls, the top right icon that shows whether you're on earpiece or speaker or BT or AirPods literally flickers intermittently when Im on AirPods. No call degradation. Just flickers. Anybody know?

It’s happened to me as well.
