My AirPods 2 was purchased in 2019/3. Today it’s still rocking, only the battery has degraded to 2 hours per case charge.

It depends on a lot of factors, my ones lasted more than 2 years and I lost them( but they worked ok.

My 1st gen AirPods lasted me about three and a half years (2018-2021) but developed problems at the end (they were dropping out frequently). I'm on my second pair, AirPods Pro from 2021 and they still work fine.

Seems to be about 3 years if you use them frequently, perhaps longer if you don't.

It depends. I had the first generation airpods. I got them in February 2017. By March 2019 they were useless. They lasted about 20 minutes on a single charge. I had my AirPods Pro 1st gen from March 2020 until October 2022. They were still working really well. Lasted as long as the day I bought them.

I have a pair of 1st gen purchased almost 5 years ago. I got about 45 minutes out of a full charge last time I used them which isn't often these days. I also have Pros that I purchased 2.5 years ago and still get at least 3 hours although it's likely a bit more than that.

You can pay Apple to replace battery of AirPods, also Pro ones (both Gens)

I'm surprised to see the battery service is still available for the first-generation AirPods. I wonder if they swap them out for the same model.

To answer the OP's question, my experience has been the same as that expressed by others in this thread. My first-generation AirPods lasted about 3 years until they pretty much failed to hold any meaningful charge.

Just from personal experience: Airpods Pro 1st gen, a few months max. Before one of the 100 different issues starts developing and you have to replace.

Maybe the 2nd gen are more reliable, I couldn’t say as I don’t own them.
