Has anyone noticed differences in quality or otherwise with the AirPods made in Vietnam compared to when they were made in China? I just bought a new pair of 2nd gen with wireless charging case from Amazon because they are on sale and saw Made in Vietnam on the box. I don't expect there will be because of Apple's QC but I figured I would ask if anyone else had experiences with this.

I recently got those too (but ”wired” version) and compared to my old made in China Airpods 2’s and I preferred my old ones. Also I noticed that charging case was scratching very easily by just touching it few times and placing it on the table and there were scuff marks all over. Battery life was about the same or bit worse (Airpods were about equal but charging case was a bit worse in new ones) than my over 1 year old pair but I haven’t used my old ones much so battery is in mint condition.
But I guess it just normal product variation and not from where they are made.

This could be differences in the plastic used. I suspect the factory in Vietnam wouldn't get plastic from the same manufacturer as the one in China. I opened them up and they look and feel the same. The left one just refused to connect on a call so I had to use the right one but I chalk that up to them being AirPods and not something specific to the made in Vietnam version.

It could be there is maybe differencies in the plastic. It was maybe a bit more shiny than my old ones but those are already that old it is hard to judge. Anyway new case practically scuffed so fast there was very soon not much difference to my old one. And that is really irrelevant for normal use and the main reason I kept my original ones was that I preferred sound quality better and much more balanced and ”open”.

I figured now would be a good time to buy a pair in case they do something crazy at the next event like making all AirPods with the "Pro" form factor.

I think in my case it was due to age difference between mine. My old AP2's sounded much better than the ones manufactured recently. I thought it was due to mf location but I guess it is not that.
