AirPods Max amplify low thuds

I’m in a train and whenever someone slams the heavy toilet door outside our compartment, I hear a heavy thud on my AirPods Max when noise cancellation is turned on.

when I take off the headset I don’t hear people slamming the door.

Isn’t that odd? Has anybody else experienced that?
