Hey Everybody!
I was going to treat myself to a set of AirPods Max yesterday, and found what looked to be legit USED deals on Facebook Marketplace. Although there seems to be two categories of AP Max's on the MP; used (and likely authentic) Max's, and new (suspicious) Max's for ~$250.
I think the latter falls under the too-good-to-be-true camp, it just doesn't add up for a few reasons. First being the used Max's are at least as expensive, if not more. Second, the two sellers I messages (both not local, offering shipping, but from different cities) wrote almost identical messages back to me. I know FB offers boilerplate messages (Hi, Is this available?), still seems suspicious.
I appreciate your feedback & hope somebody on here bought NEW authentic APMax's from these folks on FM Marketplace & can tell us about their buy!

I think the chance of getting some counterfeit Chinese knock-off is really high. The qualitative appearance and feel (also the software) makes them quite hard to distinguish from the real deal. That said I would never buy any second hand headphones, just the thought of all the bodily substances from the previous owner makes me uncomfortable, even if you wash them thoroughly...

Avoid FB Marketplace for anything would be my advice. My experience with similar places is that half the people are trying to scam you therefore all ads are suspicious. We’re talking a lot of money, no return policy, no warranty.

Given that AirPods Max might get an upgrade by next year, I thought of Grover.com which currently allows you to rent them for $24.90 per month for a year. That's $298.80. During that year they are warranted and are guaranteed new or meticulously refurbished when they arrive. You return them at the end of the 12-month rental. I can then buy the upgraded version or decide to skip owning a pair in favor of buying Vision Pro. Just a thought and $24.90 a month wont hurt my bank account.
