This sounds pretty trivial, but spending a good amount of money on good headphones, I feel it’s justified.
regarding the headband on the AirPods Max, how hard wearing is it? I shave my head every few days and whilst the hair grows back it gets extremely abrasive as I’ve noticed on a gaming headset I use. Are there replaceable headbands available should it wear or fray?

Even though there was a lot of people thinking the headband would get damaged or tear easy, it never happened, and it is strong enough like any other headband.

That said, in your particular case with abrasive hair stubble, you would have to test this yourself :)
The headband can be replaced with just a simple pinhole inside the ear cups, but I have not read about it being replaced by Apple, as it does not damage easily.
Apple was planing on selling seperate headbands, but it is not sold at the moment.

Do a search on Amazon for Awinner Headband Cover. This is a silicon sleeve that fits well and covers the bottom of the headband. I find it very comfortable. It comes in different colors. I purchased several to go with some alternative colored Apple ear pads! Very inexpensive.

I also tricked mine out with Monocarbon carbon ear cup protectors and I have a Waterfield Designs AirPods Max case on order.

I never thought I'd have accessorize headphones;) But, if this keeps my AirPods Max in good condition, I think the extra expense it is well worth it considering how much these baby's cost!

Separate headbands? Just replacements, or a different design?
