AirPods Max - loose part internally?

I’ve just been using my AirPods Max for the first time, and it seems there is some sort of loose part that makes a very audible rattling sound when moving the headphones around/giving them a little shake. It sounds very much like there is some sort of (not so) little part bouncing about inside of them.

i guess I’ll have to return them ?
