Hello,

I am doubting buying the Airpods Max, I cancelled a day 1 purchase based on condesation issues I see.

Now you can find them way cheaper than Apple price everywhere, like 30% off. This is not common in Europe at all, to have that kind of offers compared to Apple fixed prices, so I wonder if Apple wants to get rid of them, or what is going on.

Is Amazon able to sell Apple stuff at any price? Is Apple releasing a revised or redesigned version 2 soon, even if we have no rumours about it?

It's been that way for several weeks. I bought mine for $449 back in July at Best Buy.

Retailers don't pay the prices consumers do and can eat into their margins. Hence AirPods Pro regularly and currently $179.

I would guess we are having a repeat of the HomePod. The early shortage seems to have had more to do with manufacturing than demand. Once the first big wave of product came in March, they have never been sold out again. In fact, it was not much more that 6-8 weeks after that, they began going on sale and are essentially permanently on sale at this point.

None of that should really change anything for a perspective buyer. I think they are close to worth it at the MSRP of $549. They are definitely worth it at $449.

They’re my favourite Apple product for years. I don’t think they make good travel headphones as they don’t fold down much, but for use around the house they’re amazing.

Whilst I’d like the option to completely power them off, it’s a non issue really and the fact you simply pop them on your head and they just work is great. I tend to charge them every 5-6 days when they’re down to about 30%. Perhaps after 4 years the battery life will have degraded to the point where I will replace the battery, but I’m fine with that.

The transparency mode is like you’re not wearing headphones, better than any other equivalent modes across all other headphones I’ve used.

I’m indifferent to the (valid) criticism that it can’t take full advantage of Hi Res lossless. The limitation of my ears means Hi Res is lost on me anyway. They nonetheless sound far better than any other wireless BT headphones I’ve used (and I have and still use all the major ones), no sense of compression and a nice wide sound stage for closed back.

They’re absolutely fantastic with Dolby Atmos content + Apple TV. The spatial audio is tremendous, it’s a genuine surround substitute for late night viewing when I can’t make much noise via my physical surround setup. All my previous experience with “surround headphones” have been gimmicky and pointless.

Not a fan of spatial audio for music, sounds very lossy and weirdly centre channel focussed with all the delicious right/left separation lost.

Nothing is wrong. If you want them, buy them. If you’re looking for a deal, buy when there is a deal. You’re overthinking it.
