Has anyone else had issues with their AirPods microphone not working? This is consistent and fails to function at all using it with my iPhone and Apple Watch. The person on the other end of the phone call just hears silence. The playback of audio is perfect, but the mic is just not working.

I’ve tried restoring the AirPods and that doesn’t help. My only theory is that running with the AirPods has caused sweat damage to that component of the AirPods?

Anyone else have a similar issue?

This has happened twice to my wife's airpods. Nothing worked and had to take them to Apple who exchanged the inoperable one both times.

Any chance this will be done for free since they are a pair I got at launch and they are now not covered by any warranty?

If not covered under warranty, then probably not. You will likely have to pay the $69 to replace it. But it doesn't hurt to go Apple and ask.

Gotcha - yea to replace 2 is $140 which is the same price I was seeing a brand new set for sale at - might as well just wait for a sale to get a second fully functional set :(
