AirPods not auto connecting

Why is it my Plantronics Voyager UC and Jabra Elite 65t can auto switch between laptop and iPhone or between iPad and iPhone while I have to manually connect my AirPods? What is the point of vertical integration and a special chipset when it can’t even automatically switch between my Apple devices?
