I just bought a new set of AirPods Max and they pair up easily enough to my Mac. The next time I come back to the computer to start listening to music, I have to go into the Bluetooth menu and manually connect them. Shouldn't this be automatic? Any ideas how to fix this?

Very frustrating to have to do this every time I want to listen to music. Thank you.

Hmm, with my Beats Fit Pro and AirPods 2 Gen I get notification that my Beats / AirPods have been detected, but need to click on notification to connect as it assumes you may be using them on another device (MacOS). This works across all Apple devices using the same Apple ID. I initially connected via my IOS device then they should appear for use on your iPad, iPhone, ATV and Mac. Works for me, but not automatic except with my iPhone which I originally paired them with.
