iPad AirPods not connecting with iPad Air 2

Yesterday I had an issue with my AirPods: they appeared as tuned off.

So I reset them and paired them again with my iCloud (via my iPhone 6s Plus).

Now they work again with the iPhone and the MacBook, but the iPad Air 2 doesn't see the AirPods.

In the Bluetooth settings they seem paired.

How can I fix?

PS: all my devices are updated with the latest official OS (no beta versions).
